Just like that, we are back to racing in 2018 and this time it’s on the cross country course! Prairie Storm Athletics athletes have begun to get into races with their high school and middle years teams while practicing and preparing for the upcoming Age Class Provincial Championships at the end of October.
This week saw some of our athlete’s capture medals in their first race of the year! Ben Perrett completed his last Zone 7 Cross Country Championship with a gold medal in the varsity boys 5km race. Lara Denbow won gold in the junior varsity girls 3km race, while Shelby Gluska was 2nd. In varsity girls action, Caitlin Meyers won herself a gold medal in the 4km distance. In Zone 6 Championship action, Peighton Johnson earned herself a 2nd place medal in the 4km race while Kayden Gudnason won bronze in her junior varsity girls 3km race. All of the runners now advance to the Manitoba High School Athletics Association Provincial Cross Country Championships on October 17th.
Jillian Perrett made her seasons debut as well in the Grade 7 girls 2km race although results are not yet posted.
