What a Nationals

Congratulations Lara on earning a GOLD medal in the U16 women’s high jump at the Legion National Championships this past weekend in Brandon, MB!  Lara matched her personal best of 1.70m to earn gold and pick up the first ever individual medal for a member of Prairie Storm Athletics at a National Championship!

Not only do we have a National Champion but athletes earned 8 top 10 finishes to solidify our ability to compete with the best that Canada has to offer!

Daniele Dyck finished 4th in the U18 Women’s 100m final, missing the podium by 0.05 of a second, with a wind-legal new personal best time!

Ben Perrett finished 4th in the U18 Men’s 400m final.

Daxx Turner jumped his way to a fifth-place finish in the U18 Men’s Triple Jump final with a massive jump of 14.06m.  Daxx was the youngest athlete in the top 5 and will the be the only age eligible athlete to return to the event next year!

Jorja Hoad raced her way to 6th in the U16 Women’s 200m final with a new personal best time to go along with it!

Lara earned herself an 8th place finish in the U16 Women’s 300m.

Taine Middleton finished 10th in the U18 Men’s 100m while Jorja Hoad finished 10th in the U16 Women’s 100m.

Tyson Chambers, Wil Miller Harms and Peighton Johnson all competed admirably as well although they were unable to crack the top 10 in their events.  All three will be eligible to compete in the event again next year in Cape Breton!
