Personal Bests on Day 1 of Nationals

All nine Prairie Storm Athletics athletics were action on day 1 of the Legion National Track and Field Championships on Friday and it was a day with multiple personal bests!

Jorja Hoad set a new personal best of 12.54 seconds in the 100m preliminaries.  She missed the cut for finals and finished 10th overall!

Wil Miller Harms ran a wind-aided 11.87 second 100m to finish 20th overall while Tyson Chambers ran a 12.24 second 100m time to finish 23rd overall in the midget men’s 100m.

Daniele Dyck came out of the blocks like a rocket to run a wind-aided 12.07 second 100m a seasons best time and over half a second faster than her personal best time of 12.63 seconds.  She advanced to the finals, where she ran a wind-legal 12.27 second 100m to finish 4th, just narrowly missing a podium finish!  What a tremendous day for Daniele!

Taine Middleton posted his fastest 100m time of the season, a wind-aided 11.21 second run to finish 10th in the youth men’s 100m.

Daxx Turner cleared 1.80m in the youth men’s high jump to finish 14th overall.  He was 1cm shy of his personal best jump of 1.81m.

Lara Denbow set a new 300m personal best time, 42.23 seconds, which was good enough to earn her a spot in Saturday’s 300m final, while Ben Perrett also advanced to Saturday’s 400m final in the youth men’s 400m with a respectable 50.41 second time in his preliminary round.

Peighton Johnson finished 24th overall in the youth women’s 400m.
