X-Country Athletes off to a Golden Start

The start to the 2016 X-Country season has been kind to two members of Prairie Storm Athletics.   Representing Neepawa Area Collegiate Ben Perrett and Lara Denbow opened up their first races of the season with Gold Medal performances, while Zoie Forgue, competed in her first ever x-country race, placing 5th in the 4k event.

Lara completed the Junior High 2k race at Epinette Trail in Spruce Woods Provincial Park in just over 10 minutes to win the Girls category and place 4th overall in the entire junior high category. Meanwhile, Ben defended his Zone 7 Championship title in the Junior Varsity Division completing the 4km race in a little over 14 minutes.

Ben advances to the MHSAA Provincial Championships being held on October 12th in Nelson House, MB while Lara will head to the Killarney X-Country race on October 6th.  Both athletes plan to compete in the Chris McCubbins Age Class Provincial Championships on October 24th in Winnipeg.
