Personal Bests Fall in Zone 7 Championships

The rain held off long enough today for the members of Prairie Storm Athletics to represent their high school teams very well today in the Zone 7 Track and Field Championships!  Every member of the club was able to advance to the Provincial Championship meet in their events which is very exciting for the club.

Morgan Ramsay, representing Rivers Collegiate, was able to edge out teammate Zoie Forgue, Neepawa Collegiate, in both the 100m and 200m Junior Varsity girls events today.  Morgan posted a 12.99 and 26.84, new personal best, while Zoie claimed 2nd in both races with personal best times of 13.14 and 27.49.

Not to be outdone, Jensyn Baron, Carberry Collegiate, set personal bests in both the 100m and 200m, Varsity girls events, 13.6 and 28.87, good for 1st in both.  She also picked up a 2nd in the 80m hurdles with a time of 15.92 (personal best).  It was a teammate that picked up 1st in the hurdles, Kiera Senbeil, representing Elton, with a time 15.68.  Kiera was 2nd overall in the 100m 13.9, new personal best, while Kiera also picked up 1st in the Varsity long jump 4.25m.

Amy Klippenstein, MacGregor Collegiate, who raced well in the Junior Varsity girls 400m and 800m races picking up 1st in both events.  She was able to stay ahead of teammate Caitlin Myers, Carberry Collegiate, who was 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the 400m.

On the boys side Ben Perrett, Neepawa Collegiate, continued to run well early into the season with 1st place finishes in the 200m (24.78, PB), 400m (55.27, PB) and the 800m.  Ben Rainka, Neepawa Collegiate, posted a new PB in the 100m, 12.44, and was 2nd in the 400m with a new PB 59.43.  Tanner Mann, Neepawa Collegiate, set a new personal best in the long jump today with a massive 5.89m jump good for 1st place, while picking up a 3rd in the 100m with a 12.08, new PB.  Taine Middleton, Neepawa Collegiate, picked up 1st in that 100m race with a new personal best of 11.64.
